I've attended this fun event for the last two years and will attend this week as well. To commemorate this event I'll share both days from the 2007 Summit.
Colin Powell was one of the featured speakers of that Summit. Here are some of his 'Powell Principles' for leaders and winners:
'Necessary leadership qualities - be action-oriented, be a spark!, be a change agent, be an example, be a problem solver.
- Promote a clash of ideas, then make a decision
- Encourage a noisy system - find out what people know
- Realize that only people get things done
- Constantly probe the organization
- Reward your best performers; get rid of non-performers
- Be prepared to disappoint people & make them angry
- Check your ego at the door
- Have expectations
- Have discipline
- Have fun along the way
- Always be optimistic about the next day
- Perpetual optimism is a 'force multiplier' - it becomes infectious'
Winners convey confidence, trust, and passion.
