Excellence in Business Success

Returning to the book called The Complete Book of Business Success by Byrd Baggett. It contained useful insights to winning in the business environment. Divided into three main sections - Taking Charge, Excellence, Satisfaction Guaranteed - I've shared some bullet points from the first section already (see July 2nd blog entry). Here now is section two:

'Excellence
  • Success at the expense of faith and family is really failure
  • Customers will always get what they want; the question is - will they get it from you?
  • Rely on your support staff; your time should be spent in front of the customer, not in the office
  • Customers will find a way to buy from you if they like you
  • Push yourself; only YOU can motivate you
  • Have fun and celebrate your successes
  • Always keep learning!
  • A customer's opinion is formed within the first five minutes after you meet
  • Underpromise and overperform [just like 'Scotty' in classic Star Trek]
  • Timing is everything; let it happen naturally
  • Don't be an underachiever; believe in yourself!
  • If you can't find the time to do it right the first time, how will you find the time to do it over?

I'll share tips from the last section - Satisfaction Guaranteed - before the end of the month.
